What is Humans vs. Zombies

Humans vs. Zombies (HvZ) is a week long, 24/7 game of moderated tag commonly played on college campuses. A group of human players attempts to survive a “zombie outbreak” by outsmarting a growing group of zombie players.

Human players must remain vigilant and defend themselves with socks and Nerf guns to avoid being tagged by the growing zombie horde. Currently, Humans vs. Zombies is played at over 600 campuses across the United States!

Hey there HvZ Folks, While we don't have anything active going on over the summer (Aside from making new friends at Summer Welcome), we wanted to help showcase a Kickstarter that's relevant to the game we love. The Kickstarter only has 54 hours left, as I'm a bit slow to notice these things, but is for a documentary about HvZ and Nerf Tag in general and the positive benefits of the games. The creator of the documentary suffers from PTSD after a fatal plane crash and has used HvZ and Nerf Tag to help him recover. This documentary aims to show the effect that these sorts of activities can have on people with psychological trauma and the positive community building that comes with the game. As something I (Rex) have long seen in the game and preached, I really support the opportunity to show this side of the game that is effectively invisible unless you're actively involved in playing. If you're interested, check the page out. They have a trailer on the page and a couple of video clips from the documentary up on YouTube. http://kck.st/1EN1php - Rex [view video]

Hello Zombesties and Humenemies, We will have the HvZ Open House (a.k.a. "Mod Roast") this Saturday at 6 PM in Leadership Auditorium in the Student Center. Please feel free to show up prepared to share any feedback about the game. The format will be an open forum for players to voice their opinions about various parts of the game, give suggestions on improvements, and an opportunity for discussion with both the moderators that attend and the audience of players. This will be relatively informal in order to encourage the exploration of ideas for the game. Hopefully we'll see a large number of you there! - Rex
